Keeping places secure is a big challenge in today’s world. VigilantAI is a new system that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect unusual activities like robberies or illegal actions in real-time through video streams.

This project started by preparing a dataset of 957 photos of robbery and other illegal activities. These images were labeled using RoboFlow to meet YOLOv5 standards. The YOLOv5s model was then fine-tuned to detect these activities, achieving an accuracy of 85%.

The trained model works through a simple web application built using Flask. This app connects to both wired and IP cameras, making it easy to use for monitoring different areas. It processes the video stream in real time and detects any unusual activity.

The research behind VigilantAI has been accepted at the 2024 International Conference on IT and Industrial Technologies (ICIT 2024). It highlights how AI and IoT can work together to make spaces safer by identifying anomalies quickly and effectively.

With its focus on real-time detection and easy integration, VigilantAI shows how technology can improve security systems without requiring complex setups.
